Get in.” Emmett walked over, his face still as expressionless as before, but he took Aiden’s

backpack and slung it over his wrist.

This gesture was just like a typical dad picking his kid up from school.

“Dad, why are you here to pick me up today? Didn’t Ms. Calloway have to go abroad for

something? Aren’t I supposed to go back to Grandma’s?”

He originally left the Melendez family to get closer to Clara. Now that Clara was abroad, he

thought he would return to them

“So, you want to go back? Emmett asked.

Aiden thought for a moment, I’m okay with anything! Aren’t you busy with work? Do you

have time to put me to sleep?”

Emmett frowned slightly, “You’re this old and still need someone to put you to sleep? Are

you scared?”

“Of course not! I just… I’m not used to sleeping in a new bed, so I want someone to talk to

me, tell me stories, and then I’ll fall asleep when I’m tired” Aiden squinted and smiled. He

Kids don’t ask for much, they just want company.

He used to think that Aiden had everything in the Melendez family and was materially

superior to his peers by a long shot.

his son’s hair.

“Of course! She is already married to your dad, so she will be your mom from now on.

“Can I call her mom?”
