This is ridiculous! You’re my girlfriend now. Remember it!” Emmett squinted his eyes, “And

it is impossible for you to resign! Until I allow you to leave, you will remain as my

secretary.”

“Mr. Melendez, I really can’t work anymore!”

If this went on, Clara would feel like she was trying to survive in a dangerous environment,

with her heart racing every second.

She might lose her sanity if this continues. She noticed that Emmett had already started

Emmett clenched his fists, “Clara, listen to yourself! Do you think I’m easy to fool?”

“I’m not lying to you!” Clara really wanted to avoid her child’s father’s family, but Emmett

didn’t know that he was the father, “I don’t need to lie to you, especially when you’ve

been so good to me. I even owe you a favor, why would I ask to resign? Mr. Melendez, I

really have troubles that I can’t speak of.”

“Are his family causing you trouble?”

Clara nodded, “Kind of! Even though they don’t mean to trouble me, it really is troubling to

me.

Her voice gradually faded until it was almost inaudible.

“Who are they? I’ll go and help you resolve this matter.” Emmett didn’t believe anyone

would dare harass his girlfriend!

Upon hearing this, Clara quickly waved her hands, “No, no, no. They’re a very influential

family, just like the Melendez family!”

Just like the Melendez family?

Such families were few and far between.

“Is it the Taylor family?”

“No!” Clara waved her hands, “The Atwood family can’t compare to the Melendez family.”

“Then tell me who it is! You can’t resign anyway; I’m here to take you back.”

“Huh? Mr. Melendez, I can’t go! How about you return first? I promise I’ll come back,

okay?” Clara had just arrived, and she didn’t want to leave Alex so

soon.

“This isn’t up for discussion.” Emmett’s face turned serious.

For some reason, Emmett just couldn’t bring himself to despise the woman in front of him.

Emmett hated fickle women the most! And here she was acting like one.

“Mr. Melendez! This is really troubling me. Yes, I’m your secretary, but I have my own

issues to deal with!”

“Did you forget about our contract? Or do you have enough money to compensate me

now?”

“…” Clara was speechless, “Mr. Melendez, I really have something going on. Can you give

me some space? As soon as I finish what I need to do, I’ll come back!”

But Clara didn’t know when that would be.

Right now, she was in an incredibly tricky situation.

Clara didn’t know whether Elio had hidden Alex yet. She really hoped Emmett wouldn’t

find out about Alex.
