Chapter 62

Kenneth, Laura, Daniel, and Edward suddenly became flustered. The police were about to search the room where

they had committed a crime, so Kenneth immediately shouted, “How could you break into my house? Being police

officers doesn’t mean you have the right to tres pass as you please!”

Kenneth and Laura wanted to rush forward, but someone stopped them.

At this moment, someone noticed the room door couldn’t be opened.

Just then, another car arrived at the entrance of Kenneth’s house. A tall figure got out of the car and walked into

the yard. Some police officers had already approached the man and told him what happened after they entered

the house.

“There’s a locked door. Maybe someone is inside.”

As the policeman spoke, he led the man to the locked room door.

Kenneth, Laura, Daniel, and Edward tried to find various excuses and refused to open the door.

“Smash the door open,” Jonathan stared at the door and said coldly.

Immediately, someone took an axe and split the door open

“All of you can’t go in. You’re tresp as s ing into private property! I’ll sue you!” However, it was useless no matter

how loud Kenneth and Laura shouted. When the door opened, Jonathan rushed into the room first.

A roar suddenly came from inside when the others were about to rush in. “No one is allowed to come in!”

Suddenly, those who were about to rush in stopped immediately.

Jonathan stared at the scene in front of him with reddened eyes. Most of Rosalie’s clothes were torn apart, and she

curled up in a corner and was kicked by a man who kept giggling.

Her weak body was curled up almost like a shrimp, and she tightly held a piece of broken mirror. However, at this

time, she had no strength to fight back

All she could do was to keep herself from fainting and stay conscious by stimulating herself with pain.

The blood dripped from her palm onto the light-colored bedsheet. The stains looked like blooming poppies.

The man who hit her muttered, “My dad said that if a woman doestit behave, she deserves a beating. Only then did

she listen. That’s why I’m hitting you. I’ll beat you up…”

The next moment, Jonathan rushed forward, pulled Chris away from Rosalie, and pressed him on the ground with

one foot.

He couldn’t believe Chris hit Rosalie like that. There was a flash of killing intent in his dark eyes.

Chris felt a sharp pain in his chest where Jonathan’s leg was. He wanted to struggle but couldn’t get up at all. Even

if he was stu pid, he was still aware of the danger around him. He only realized how terrifying Jonathan, who was

stepping on him, was as if the latter was Hades coming after his life.

Jonathan’s eyes were scarlet, and the killing intent was getting stronger.

Heavy breathing suddenly rang in his ears, making him come to his senses.

“Rosie!” he thought.

He immediately kicked Chris out of the room and looked at Rosalie, who curled up in a corner.

Her body seemed weak at the moment, her cheeks were abnormally red, and the corners of her mouth were

covered with blood. Her usual gentle gaze looked blank as if she was in a daze and no one knew what she was

staring at.

She was like a weak animal still struggling desperately to protect herself.

Pain suddenly shot through his heart. “She was fine when she left this morning but turned out like this now. She

wouldn’t have encountered such a thing if I came with her today,” he thought.

When he wanted to get close to her, her body trembled even more. Her grip on the pieces of the broken mirror

also tightened. Suddenly, the bleeding in her hand worsened.

“Rosie, it’s me. Let go of the glass right now. You’re safe now, and no one will do anything to you,” Jonathan

hurriedly said. In the past, he was never afraid of seeing blood. Even if someone were bleeding in front of him, he

was not frightened at all. However, at this moment, he feared seeing her bleed and that her injuries and bleeding

would worsen.

The fear even made his body tremble.

Rosalie only felt that lier body seemed to have lost all senses. Except for the warmth, she could only feel a trace of

pain.

“Iniust be in more pain to protect myself and prevent myself from fainting. I must not pass out. I can’t!” she

exclaimed inwardly.

Rosalie was alone and helpless and thought she could live her life after being released, but it was still like she was in

jail. When something happened, no one could help her. She had to bear the pain herself.

“Rosic… Rosie…”

A voice sounded in her ear. “Who is it? Who is calling me?” Rosalie wondered.

She tried hard to open her eyes to see who was calling her.

“Rosie, don’t be afraid. I’ll get you out of here!” the man exclaimed.

Her gaze, which was blank at first, finally gradually became clear and bright. His figure was reflected in her dark

pupils.

“J-Jon…” Rosalie could barely say his name, and her voice was hoa rse as if it was coarsened by sand.

“It’s me. I’m here. Rosie, no one can hurt you!” Jonathan exclaimed. A trace of solemnness and sorrow was evident

on his charming face. His words were also a vow.

She looked at him in a daze and thought, “Jon seems different from usual, but it’s indeed him!”

Her grip suddenly loosened as if all the strength she tried hard to gather had disappeared, and the broken mirror

pieces in her hand fell to the ground. Her body then collapsed to one side.

Jonathan stretched out his arms to catch Rosalie. Then, he removed his coat, wrapped it around her, and scooped

her up in his arms.

“Rosic, have a rest now, and I’ll take you home,” Jonathan said softly.

Rosalie leaned against his chest and smelled the familiar scent. At that moment, she felt like she was finally not

alone because there was someone she could rely on.

“Jon, you finally came… she murmured, leaning her head against his chest and panting.

“Yes, I’m here,” Jonathan looked at her in his arms and said, assuring her there was nothing she should be afraid of

anymore.

Then, Jonathan carried Rosalie out of the room.

The people outside the room saw Jonathan walking out with a woman wrapped in a man’s suit in his arms. They

couldn’t see her face at all as it was almost buried in Jonathan’s arms, and only her long hair was exposed. They

also could hear her heavy breathing.
