Seeing that the young girl looked very innocent, both Geming and Fang Yuan only had to exchange a glance and both of them had the same thought.

This girl was probably their only chance out of this place!

"You have to untie us. We can help you guys defeat the beasts."

"Eh?" Xu Meilin looked at the two suspiciously. Unfortunately for them, even though she was a bit naive, she wasn't exactly a fool either.

She didn't continue talking to them and silently looked at the cat in her arms, whispering something to the small animal.

"What the heck is this girl doing now? Why are this bunch of people so useless? We definitely are going to die here! Damn it!" Fang Yuan looked around everyone preparing to head out.

Geming also had a solemn look on his face, but he was silent as if he was thinking about something. "Didn't we fight with an earthworm last night at our camp?"

"Hmm yes? Why are you asking me that right now?"

"And the one that girl was fighting with the other day… did it also look similar?"

"Huh? Now that I think about it? Ya, it did look a little bit similar. Wait a second, are you trying to tell me that there are more of those abominations squirming around underground?"

Geming stared back at him, unsure of how to answer that question. "I hope that's really not the case." He muttered after a while.

While these two were chatting, the others quickly hurried out of the big hall and dispersed in groups of five to six to stand in front of the hospital on the wide open cemented ground. There were about 20 of them so they ended up splitting into 4 groups.

Alex ordered everyone to move and stand spread away from each other.

According to Lu Chen's calculation, they still should have had a couple more hours before any beast showed up, but somehow they had been caught well beforehand.

"What are we going to do now?" Xu Meilin clutched the dagger in her hand and asked.

Alex looked around and shook her head. "I don't know."

Everybody looked as if they were ready to fight to the end, putting their lives on the line, but the tremors below them grew louder and louder, and to say that they didn't scare her would be a lie.

She might have an ability too but was it really possible for her to take control of the situation like Lu Chen or Qin Hua would have done?

Alex wasn't that confident. She had only barely escaped even that single beast, but now they were probably facing another horde of beasts or worse?

Her eyes simmered as she glanced at the dust cloud slowly beginning to form on the cemented space in front of the hospital where they were all standing.

"LISTEN UP! I will try to hold their attention! You all need to attack whatever is coming our way with your daggers while I am still holding their attention! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"

"DON'T BE AFRAID!"

"THEY ARE NOT INDESTRUCTIBLE!"

Alex barely finished speaking when the thing that she was most afraid of finally happened.

The cemented ground cracked and as chunks of slabs flew everywhere, a bundle of eight centipedes roared loudly and lifted their heads out of the ground.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Thick grimy acidic sloshed on the ground from the ugly heads of the centipede amidst the ominous graveyard like silence.

Everyone's face paled. Even Alex who was just now brimming with fighting spirit looked lifeless.

Others might just be overwhelmed by the sudden appearance of so many big beasts but she knew that something worse was about to happen.

In the next few seconds, this entire place was going to be a pool of acidic goop!

How could they still continue to fight with just daggers? "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Alex shuddered and looked around here and there. What should they do now?

If she were given a choice between the poisonous boas and these ugly centipedes, she would have rather faced the snakes! How were they even supposed to fight back now?

Alex's mind quickly spun when she remembered something. "Grenades! Lu Chen mentioned that these people were carrying grenades!"

"MEI MEI FOLLOW MEE! NOW!"

Alex dragged the girl who was staring at the centipedes blankly and ran back inside the hospital. The small cat as well followed the two into the building.

SLAM! BAM! CRASH!

Loud sounds echoed behind them but both the girls quickly ran into the hospital without turning back as they needed the grenades badly. Otherwise, they were all surely toast.

However, as soon as they entered the hall they were previously staying in, their feet froze and their eyes widened.

"NO! NO! NO!" Alex screamed.

"Oh no." Xu Meilin as well worriedly muttered.

There was nothing left in the big hall now as neither the bag of grenades nor their captives could be found. Only tattered pieces of the ropes they had used to bind those two were scattered around on the floor.

"Damn it! Those two fuckers ran away!" Alex roared furiously. "They must have realized that little white was no longer with us and took off the first chance they got."

However, she knew that there was no point in crying over spilled milk now. Without those grenades, they were never going to survive these many beasts at the same time, especially without little white.

Her mind whirred and she suddenly thought of something. "Wait. Those two assholes should definitely be heading towards their camp. They are also badly injured. They shouldn't have gone too far."

Alex did not bother explaining things to Xu Meilin and quickly started running towards the damaged east wing where they had first fought off the other centipede.

Arrghhh! Ahhh! Ahhh!

Loud screams echoed outside in the area where the battle was taking place, but she gritted her teeth and did not think about that right now.

"They can survive. They can hold on." She muttered under her breath and ran as fast as she could.
