Chapter 142  What the... F*ck? Was I that much of a fool in my past life?

The sound of the rolling waves rhythmically hitting the shore filled the air, accompanied by the distant calls of seagulls. As the sun began its descent, painting the sky with hues of red and orange, the beach was transformed into a canvas of serenity. Yet, stranded on the shore were a young man and a youthful woman—Yue Li and Han Li.

A dark sword laid just beside them.

Both of their bodies were gripped by the sea foam and then released right after as the wave tried to climb higher and higher. But both of them were out cold. A black seagull-looking bird gently landed atop Han Li's body and was just about to peck at his cheek when its feathers suddenly stood up and looked towards the sea as if about to flee.

It wanted to fly away, but it was too late.

A hand wrapped around its neck and squeezed, and before it could even squeak, its whole neck exploded into bits and pieces. Two cold red eyes opened and then looked at the sea—something shivered inside the water, and Han Li could feel it running away.

Shrugging and sitting up coldly, he looked at the dead bird in his hand. Then it moved to his mother; she was also completely bloody. "What a good start," he coldly said and stood up in a single jump.

Taking his mother on his back gently, he moved towards the sea and used the water to clean both of them. Their clothes were already wet, and it would be troublesif his mother caught something like a cold or something similar—even though Awakened rarely was susceptible to such things.

He had just woken up sseconds ago and was waiting for the thing in the water to jump at him, but the Black Seagull completely ruined it. And in a rush, he crushed it before it flew away, which made both him and his mom bloody.

After cleaning themselves, he looked around and soon found a forest sdistance away; without any wait, he ran closer and, soon enough, vanished into the woods.

Even though he had managed to stay awake while on the flight, and even when the red light completely overwhelmed him, he had fallen unconscious right after entering the world. But just because he had not fallen asleep when the red light overwhelmed him, he and his mother were now together. Or they would have both been teleported separately.

He had just woken up sseconds ago and was waiting for the thing in the water to jump at him, but the Black Seagull completely ruined it. And in a rush, he crushed it before it flew away, which made both him and his mom bloody.

That was a mistake.

Running through the forest full of vibrant greenery and life, Han Li was focused to a point he had never been since his rebirth, and soon enough, he ran into something. His soul sense focused on that place, and he coldly shifted his route.

In three seconds, he was standing in front of an unconscious young-looking man.

[Yang Jue Ying] [Age: 97]

[Current Cultivation: Power Born]

[End tcultivation in the first life Premonition: Power Born, Great Dao of Life]

[End tcultivation in the last Premonition: Power Born, Great Dao of Life.]

[Death: (in the last premonition) at age 116, died in the Transcendence War in an attempt to steal the Transcendance Orb.]

Han Li gently touched the man's skin, and understanding his sword was sharp enough to cut him, ran away from there. The dark sword flew behind him and, as it moved past, cut the man's head off. Clean and in one slice.

Running back to the place, Han Li coldly collected the blue martial robes of the man, got into it, and then threw the body aside. He didn't even get any loot.

With his mother unconscious behind him, Han Li did this three more times. Two Evolved Cultivators and another Awakened Cultivator. He had no mercy, nor a warrior's shame. Later, they would be his enemies—none of them knew what awaited here, but he did.

And because he had worked hard to stay awake then, he was awake now.

As for his promise to his mother?

This place had no place for the weak-hearted. If he followed that promise, by the end of this, there wouldn't be a Han Li or Yue Li; they would both die 100%.

Having found nothing else, Han Li found a safe place with a wide view and settled there for a while, he had to clear his thoughts. After getting seated, he first undressed his mother; she was wearing wet clothes, and he had to change them.

He made her wear the clothes that he had gotten after killing the Awakened old woman, the clothes were shabby and old, white servant clothes, but better than the wet clothes.

Then, he laid her head on his lap and let her sleep for now.

For the next 30 minutes, no one would wake up. But going around killing anymore wouldn't be wise; thirty minutes weren't much, and if he ended up in front of a startled Power Born, he was done for. Even Evolved here wouldn't be Evolved from the Southern Lust City; each and every one would be dangerous. In one way or the other.

He closed his eyes and began meditating. But his senses were alert, and he didn't plan to stay here for more than 15 minutes. …

First of all, he had to think about his future knowledge regarding this situation.

Heaven Rising.

It was a major event in the future with continental repercussions.

In his past life, 15 years from today, the Transcendental War would commence, and almost a decade later, it would end. And then, a revival period would begin, with many visits from other continents and so on, and so forth.

Nothing major would happen after that, until 45 years from today, a red veil blankets the whole world. Lives started to rise to the heavens.

Not many traveled to return; most of them who entered ended up dead, and those who didn't die becgreat men or women who were all feared for their power.

Han Li looked up at the setting sun, the sky, the land, the foliage of greenery, and even the black mud under his lap. He couldn't help but fall silent.

This was an Empty Space.

He was inside the Empty Space of the Sacred Lust Demon.

There was no darkness here, no Sparks in sight, no Dao Souls, No Dao Crystals. This here was a world unto its own. Something beyond his understanding. And inside it, he was just like an ant, nothing more than that.

He breathed out as his mind delved into other thoughts.

According to his future knowledge, the Heaven Rising happened because before the Sacred Demon died, he had set up skind of mechanism inside this place to make the Red Veil fall down exactly at that time. But today, Han Li could understand there was no way that was true.

There must have been a mechanism, but surely not the kind that was automatically set to activate in time, but something that was supposed to be triggered. The question was, how?

Or maybe… who?

He gently caressed his mother's hair, and his heart started to beat faster and faster. It was in such moments that he was reminded of his significance, of how worthless he himself was—he didn't know everything.

Returning back to tdidn't mean he was now the most important person in this world, nor did it mean he was the main character of sstory, as someone great once said, everyone was a main character, just like how everyone was a side character.

And in the triggering of all these great events, he wasn't the major character.

A cold shine simmered under his red gaze.

He smiled calmly. As long as he got the greatest benefits here this time, it didn't matter who the one to trigger it all was. 'According to the future,' he contemplated, 'there would be hundreds of Life Type treasures in this world, and all of them are quite easy to get. What I have to do first is get sof them before the actual trials begin.'

This world had strials set up by the Sacred Demon that the people could complete to gain certain rewards, like Magical Treasures, Cooking methods to create unique Magical Treasures using materials, and much more.

But the Trials would only begin 24 hours after everyone wakes up, which means the next sunset. After that, Power Borns can't kill Evolved, while Evolved can't kill the Awakened, but until then, chaos will prevail.

'One step at a time,' he thought calmly. 'What I want from here is information on why all this is happening suddenly, Magic Resources, and then win the Trials to get the best I can."

Without waiting a second, he smiled, and feeling the eagerness of his Dao Soul, he began to cultivate. But a second later, opened his eyes in shock.

He had barely cultivated for around 10 minutes, and a Dao Crystal had already formed inside. And more were forming even faster. And there waas zero strain on his Dao Soul too.

Immediately, he understood why after using his Soul Sense.

Spread all around this world were not chaotic and unusable energies that the Spark or Dao Soul inside him refines into usable energy. The energy spread around here; he knew what it was—Energy solely meant to be used by those who cultivate under the Life Dao.

"Sacred Demon…" he mumbled in shock, "Of course, his Empty Space would have energy that is comfortable forto absorb…"

That also meant that all the Life Dao cultivators inside this 'Demon World' would experience explosive growth. His heart thudded inside his chest, and he ran away with his mother on his back.

This was news to him, but it was no wonder. 45 years later, when the Heaven Rising happened in his past life, he was a heavily depressed man; at that point, it was just 15 years after his mother's death, and there was also the death of his wife Ruo. So, with a heart that had barely any desire other than a faint hope of achieving sungodly level someday and reviving his mother and wife, he didn't care much when he rose to this place, and that time, the only thing he did was drown in Magical Alcohol and wait till the trials began. Only now that he experienced this today did he understand how much of a great fool his younger self was.

He was borderline ashamed.
