Chapter 113

If it were any other day, Cynthia would have been awake by now. However, she was in a relaxed state, coupled with

extreme exhaustion, so she slept soundly.

When they arrived at the door. Joshua used Cynthia’s lingerprint to open it. After charging his shoes, he carried her

upstairs. As he did not know which room she slept in, he had to open each one to check. It was not until he opened

the second room that he saw Cyn/h personal belongings.

Later, Joshua helped her take off her shoes and gently placed her on the bed. Then, just as he was about to help

her remove her clothes and change into pajamas, Cynthia suddenly woke up, instinctively grabbing his hands on her

collar.

“It’s me,” Joshua whispered.

Cynthia stared at him for a moment seemingly conlirming that she knew him, before closing her eyes and falling

back asleep.

Joshua could not help but frown at her reaction. Has Cynthia experienced something in her past?

Her reaction just now did not seem like she was fully awake. Instead, it was more like a subconscious action,

ensuring she was in a safe environment before relaxing and going back to sleep.

After helping Cynthia change into her pajamas, Joshua sat by her bed for a long time, realizing he knew very little

about her past and

experiences.

Just then, his phore vibrated,

It was a message from Yoel.

[Yoel: Mr. Neal, are you there?

He gently tucked Cynthia in bed and left the room with his phone in hand, trying not to disturb her sleep. Then, he

went downstairs to the living room and turned on the lights before calling You.

Yoel’s energy perked up upon seeing Joshua’s call

Joshua was stu awake!

“Mr. Neal,” Ycel answered the call feeling slightly nervous.

“What is it?” Joshua asked.

“I finished investigating Ms. Shaw’s terminal illness, as you requested. However, the results are slightly different

from what you already knew, Yoel explained, trying to phrase his words in a way that Joshua would accept.

“Go on,” Joshua urged, standing by the floor–to–ceiling window and looking into the right.

“There are hospitalization and treatment records of Ms. Shaw having stomach cancer abroad, but we didn’t find

any of her records in Jiverton.” Yoel continued.

Joshua paused for a moment before realizing what Yoel meant. “So you’re saying Jayleen’s terminal illness might be

fake?”

“Outpatient records are only kept for two years, and it’s possible that Jayleen had the checkup done a long time

ago.” Yoel replied. Intentionally finding an excuse to avoid any potential backlash,

Joshua hung up the phone without saying anything.

Half a year ago, Jayleen had called him and told him that she had just received a checkup report the day before

they broke up, which showed she had a terminal illness.

She even showed him the records of her treatment abroad.

the report had been received the day before the breakup. the checkup must have beer done a few days before.

Although culpallent records were only kept for two years, many hospitals did not clear their records as soon as they

reached the two–year mark.

There was usually a reasonable extension perlad

Did Jayleen lie to him?

Joshua Immediately rejected the idea.

Why would she lie to him when she had no reason to do s

so?

If it were just to be with him, she would not have broken up with him in the first place.
