Chapter Twenty Nine

Amber's POV.

My patience was wearing thin as | glanced at my watch for what felt like the hundredth time. Richard

was late, and | couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance creeping in. We had agreed to meet at the bridal

shop at 1 p.m. sharp, and yet, here | was, waiting for him since he was running late.

I didn't like the idea of being in a bridal shop, which was why I didn’t want to waste any there, but Richard

just had to waste my tby running late.

Letting out a tired sigh, | shifted uncomfortably in the plush seating area, feeling the eyes of the

female staff drilling into me. They must have noticed my restlessness.

| ignored their staring and continued waiting quietly until one of the staff members approached met

with a hint of condescension in her voice.

“Are you sure you're still interested in shopping. Miss Grey?” she asked, her voice dripping with false politeness.

“Our bridal shop welcomes a lot of important clients, and one of them is on their way. If you're unable to sort

yourself out in the next ten minutes, I'm afraid I'll have to escort

you out of the building.”

| stared up at the woman, a mixture of disbelief and shock playing across my face. “Are you trying to

kickout?” | asked, my voice laced with obvious disbelief. | couldn't believe the audacity of this

woman.

Janice, as her ntag revealed, squared her shoulders and gavea condescending smile. “If you dor t start

shopping for a dress in the next ten minutes, I'll have no choice but to escort you out,” she repeated, her tone

leaving no room for negotiation.

My frustration swelled, but | fought to keep it in check. | didn’t want to cause a scene, especially not before

Richard arrived. | took a deep breath, reminding myself to stay calm.

“Look, I'm waiting for my fiance to arrive,” | replied, my voice steady but tinged with irritation. “We had planned

to chere together. | will start shopping as soon as he arrives.”

Janice’s smile faltered for a moment, her gaze flickering with uncertainty. “Well, Miss Grey, tis limited. |

suggest you make a decision quickly. We have an important client coming in, and they

| couldn’t believe the audacity of the staff in front of me. Janice’s condescending attitude and blatant disrespect

were infuriating. | was about to respond to her, ready to give her a piece of my mind, when murmurs started to

ripple through the shop.

It seemed like something was causing a stir, and everyone's attention was drawn to the sspot. | tried to

ignore the commotion, uninterested in whatever was happening, but Janice’s voice broke through the noise.

“Now that the important client has arrived, Miss Grey, you need to leave immediately if you don’t want to be

thrown out,” Janice said, her tone filled with arrogance.

My shock intensified as the realization hit me. She was really kickingout.

Before | could utter a word, Richard's familiar voice erupted from behindas he questioned what was going

on. | turned to face him, my expression a mix of irritation and frustration.

“What's going on?” Richard asked.

| let out a sigh, trying to contain my anger as | faced Janice once again. “Is Richard here the important guest you

were talking about?” | asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

Janice seemed momentarily confused, raising her head to meet my furious gaze. Her confident facade faltered

as she realized her mistake. | could see a hint of embarrassment in her eyes, although she tried to hide it. | held

her gaze, unwilling to back down.

Richard's concern deepened as he reached my side, his eyes searching mine for answers. “Amber, is there a

problem?” he asked, his voice laced with worry.

| took a deep breath, trying to compose myself before responding. “Janice here thought it was necessary to kick

apparently, that ‘important client’ was you.”

| watched as Richard's brows furrowed in confusion. His eyes darted betweenand Janice, grasping the

situation.

“So, she looked down on you?” Richard questioned, his tone making it seem like he was contemplatin something.

Before | could respond, Janice interrupted, her voice laced with bewilderment. “Wait, Mr. Romero is

your fiance?” she asked, her words laced with surprise.

| stared at her, utterly disgusted by her lack of professionalism. “Yes, Janice, the important client

you were so keen on welcoming is indeed my fiance,” | replied, my voice cutting through the air like

ice.

Richard,” | began. “Is it necessary for us to shop for my wedding dress here?”

“If you want to go somewhere else, that’s fine with me, Amber,” he replied. “I'll just make a few calls, and we'll

visit a few other options | have prepared.”

Janice’s expression turned from confusion to panic as she realized the gravity of the situation. “Wait, please,” she

pleaded. “I apologize for the way I've treated you, Madam. | didn’t know who you

were.”

| couldn’t believe Janice had the audacity to offera half-hearted apology. Rolling my eyes, | dismissed her

and told her not to waste her time-the nerve of speople.

| decided against leaving the shop, determined not to let the rude staff ruin my mood until Richard's voice cut

through the air.

| turned to him, confusion on my face. He met my gaze, his eyes void of any expressions.

“I'm not going to let anyone disrespect my wife and get away with it,” Richard continued.

| looked around at the other staff members, their eyes trained on us, waiting to see how we would

respond. Richard took a step forward, his gaze scanning the room.

“Where is the manager?” he asked, his voice echoing through the hall.

A minute later, a middle-aged woman hurriedly approached us. She curtly bowed to Richard before

introducing herself as the manager in charge. With a nervous expression, she asked if there was

anything she could assist us with.

Richard turned to me, his eyes filled with concern. “Now tell me, Amber, what do you want to be don about

Janice disrespecting you?”

| furrowed my brows in confusion, my mind racing to catch up with the situation. But as | locked eyes with Janice,

who was already shaking like a leaf, the memory of her rude remark flashed in my mind, reigniting the anger in

me.

| couldn’t let her get away with it.

Without hesitation, I looked back at Richard and declared, “I want her fired.”

Richard smirked proudly, and his gaze hardened as he tumed to face the manager. “Have Janice remov from the

premises,” he instructed. “I don’t want to see her around by the twe're done shopping.

The manager's eyes widened, realizing the severity of the situation. She nodded quickly, acknowledging

Richard's request. “I understand, Sir.”
