Lucius recoiled slightly at the narrow dodge of Louis's attack, but before he could breathe a sigh of relief the sound of Louis's incantations rang out as ominous as a set of war chants before a sudden fire arrow shot out of his hand.

Before Lucius even realised it, the fire arrow was already in front of his eyes.

Lucius quickly tilted his head in order to dodge once more but as the arrow passed by him, he looked towards Louis only to see a vicious smirk plastered on his face

'Ah shit..'

Lucius realised something was up, but it was already too late

"Boom!"

An horrifying explosion of flames went off directly in Lucius's face as Lucius smoking body was sent rolling through the arena platform under the horrified eyes of all the spectating students.

But as everyone thought the worst, Lucius drove his sword into the stone platform before slowly rising to his feet

"Fuck!" Cursed Lucius

Eating an explosion head-on was never a good feeling.

Lucius had to thank his lucky stars that he had drawn. Veronica's [Ultimate fire Resistance] talent.

It was because of this talent that Lucius didn't suffer too badly. Taking on such an attack with the Jody of a 3rd rank fighter would be enough to seriously injure him at best.

But even though Lucius managed to weather the attack because of his talent he wasn't completely unscathed

The talent was Fire resistance, not immunity after all. This was not to mention the fact that a lot of the explosion damage didn't come under direct fire damage, so the attack still hurt like a bitch!

Standing to his feet, Lucius glared at Louis, but all this got was a light smirk from the young man as he ate he's out his hand

"See Lucius, I told you already. You don't stand a chance."

"I'll do you a favour. As long as you surrender and publicly apologise to Xander I'll make sure not to beat you too badly. Of course, you won't be able to see Veronica as well."

Lucius didn't even bother listening to Louis's talk and just scoffed.

"Me? Surrender? Sorry, but I'm afraid you think too highly of yourself"

As Lucius said this, Louis chuckled slightly as he raised an eyebrow

"Oh really? Think too highly of myself?"

"It seems that I really need to educate this arrogant junior!"

Snap!

As Louis snapped his fingers, balls of fire appeared around him, each one quickly transforming into a large fire arrow

1.. 2.. 3.. 4… it  carried on and didn't stop until 20 flaming arrows were floating around in all directions, completely surrounding Lucius in the centre.

Seeing this sight, Lucius's heart skipped a beat

Damn Mouth!

He goes ahead to act tough and then Louis goes ahead and pulls out something this ridiculous

It seems like he had underestimated Louis. No, it was not just Louis. He had underestimated the whole of Sanctuary!

This was a place that only accepted the best of the best. Any person that had been here for 3 years already wouldn't be ordinary.

But now he was faced with such a ridiculous situation, all Lucius could do was grit his teeth and resist!

And so that's what Lucius did.

Lucius quickly covered his sword in mana as he entered the defensive Sanctuary sword technique and as the first flaming arrow came towards him, he struck it down!

Boom!

The second his sword and the flame arrow made contact, he lowered his stance and tilted his sword to the side, deflecting much of the blast of the attack away from him.

Before Lucius could even breathe, two more fire arrows shot down, causing him to spin his body as his sword swung out in a blur, slicing through and enduring both of the magic attacks with the help of magic reinforcement and the Sanctuary sword style.

But unfortunately, that was just three attacks out of many

In the end, it was all useless

Lucius could only stare helplessly as he was placed in the centre of a bombardment

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Seeing this, the crowd collectively gasped.

Too horrifying!

Even the ones that had come expecting to see a one sided fight couldn't help but recoil.

This was just hard to watch.

Veronica, who was in the stands watching all this, felt like her heart was bleeding

My fault.

It's all my fault.

It's because of me that he's ignoring all odds and getting beaten to a pulp right now.

Why? Why is he doing this all for me?

Both her hands subconsciously tightened around her skirt, scrunching it up into a ball as her heart filled with worry

She wanted to stand up and scream at the top of her lungs and scream for all this to end.

She wanted all this to stop. She.. she simply didn't want to see Lucius get hurt anymore.

But before Veronica could do anything a figure burst out of the cloud of smoke at shocking speeds, appearing before Louis in seconds.

Even Louis himself was shocked by this.

He never could have expected that there was a first-year student that could endure such a beating and still continue fighting so hard.

But even though he was surprised, he was still prepared, so as Lucius's sword came crashing down, he raised his own sword to block the attack

"Bang!"

Sparks flew all around them as both swords met with a shocking amount of force behind them.

"Nice attack and ambush! It's really not bad even though it failed!"

Lucius didn't pay attention to any of Louis's obvious taunting and remained deathly silent

His exquisite Academy uniform had been half burnt off his chest and his hair was dirty and singed, making him look like a hobo.

His skin was now also flushed completely red from the scalding temperatures of the flames being pushed against his skin, making him not too dissimilar from a human prawn.

His apprentice now was truly embarrassing, but Lucius didn't care and transformed all that embarrassment and fed it directly into his sword attacks.
