Chapter 868 Isabelle was scrolling through the news on her tablet when she saw the smile on the handsome man's face. She asked, "What's up? Why are you so happy?" "Wedding Planner Z actually took our order," Darius said, his lips curling as he looked at Isabelle sitting on the couch. She was beautiful with aimond-shaped eyes and rosy cheeks. Her skin was snow-white, and even in casual clothes, she still looked elegant and charming.

Just then, the butler hurried over. "Old Mrs. Foster, Mr. Foster, Old Mrs. Obrien is back," he said.

Old Mrs. Foster had just put on her reading glasses to inform some relatives of Darius’ wedding news when she heard what the butler said. She immediately put down her phone and said, "Please bring her in quickly." Old Mrs. Obrien was Darius’ aunt who married into Aettosa's famous family, the Obrien family.

After a while, the butler brought an elderly woman with windblown hair and a young woman into the room.

The young woman wore a caramel-colored coat that accentuated her snow-white skin tone; her eyes were an endless blue that sparkled brightly when they met Darius’. Her facial features were soft with black hair cascading down naturally creating waves that made one want to touch them gently with their fingertips.

On the other hand, Old Mrs. Obrien wore a black coat exuding an air of seriousness befitting someone from such an esteemed family background like hers.

As soon as she entered through doors of their home, she scanned everyone present in hall with imposing gaze before finally resting it upon Isabelle.

Her scrutinizing gaze made Isabelle feel uncomfortable; however, she politely stood up from where she sat holding onto tablet, and stood next to Darius welcoming their guest.

Old Mrs. Obrien brought some gifts along which were taken inside by the butler.

"My dear sister-in-law, it has been ages since we last met," she spoke hoarsely.

Old Mrs. Foster warmly extended both hands towards Old Mrs. Obrien, held onto them tightly saying, "Rory, you're back for good now. What are all these gifts for? Come sit beside me. How did you come back so fast? | only told you yesterday about Darius getting married.” Old Mrs. Obrien whose maiden name was Rory Foster sat beside Old Mrs. Foster laughing softly. "This is my daughter-in-law's son's daughter who grew up at our place. She played often together with my granddaughter during childhood. Darius too used to play around frequently.” "Is that Carolina Lancaster? She's now so graceful and beautiful, a true beauty,” Old Mrs. Foster smiled warmly, but inside she felt a pang of unease. Why did Rory bring her here? She had a bad feeling about her return.

"That's right, Carolina is skilled in singing, dancing and playing the piano, truly a high society lady," Rory spoke with pride as she glanced disdainfully at Isabelle from the corner of her eye.

Hearing this made Old Mrs. Foster uncomfortable, but she continued to be polite and introduced Isabelle, "This is my daughter- in-law, Isabelle.” Finally, they talked about Isabelle! Rory had been waiting for this moment for some time now and looked at Isabelle with a fake smile on her face. "I heard you come from Middle Evroya - that barren little place where you can't even afford eggs?" Isabelle thought it was ridiculous. Who spread these rumors that they couldn't afford eggs? They could eat as many as they wanted! There were many misunderstandings about Middle Evroya outside.

"Karina, we can eat eggs whenever we want to; how could we not afford them? There are many misconceptions about Middle Evroya out there." "Really?" Rory sneered. "I also heard your hygiene and medical conditions are poor; you don't even filter your drinking water...

oh well... never mind." Her disgust was palpable.

As she spoke, she scrutinized Isabelle who was thin like bean sprouts - how could such an insignificant woman from Middle Evroya compare to Carolina who was an accomplished socialite? How dare someone like her marry Darius! Carolina also looked down on Isabella with contempt in her blue eyes - what kind of woman from such a small town hadn't seen the world yet managed to marry Mr. Foster? Her jealousy almost drove her insane.

Weren't women from Middle Evroya supposed to be ugly and dark-skinned? Why did this woman have such fair skin and delicate features? The Foster family members were all uncomfortable with their questioning.

Old Mrs. Foster had enjoyed spending time with Isabelle lately because Isabelle was knowledgeable yet gentle in character- never using her status as the prime minister to exert power over them or others.

On the contrary, she treated everyone politely which won over those who originally disliked Isabel into accepting her now.

Darius’ mother Karina had come downstairs at this point, along with Karina Gisselle. The two happened to hear Rory's words loud and clear.

Their previously warm smiles froze on their faces.

Karina couldn't help but speak up. "Auntie, did you come all this way just to belittle my daughter-in-law?" Her words were extremely impolite and gave Rory no respect at all. She completely crushed the domineering aura of Rory.

Gisselle also looked a little impatient as she scrutinized Carolina. "Miss Carolina, has no one ever told you that when you're a guest in someone else's home, you should behave properly? Can't you stop staring at other women's husbands?" Gisselle was always sharp-tongued and would pick fights with anyone who didn't please her.

When Isabelle first arrived here, Gisselle treated her much worse than she did Carolina and Rory.

Carolina's face immediately turned ugly after being exposed in public like this. She felt embarrassed and started fidgeting while her red lips trembled slightly as she tried to cover it up by saying, "I haven't seen Darius for a long time so I'm feeling emotional right now. Please don't misunderstand me; after all, we grew up together since childhood..." Darius chuckled while his eyes flashed with sarcasm. "Miss Carolina, please don't say anything that could be misunderstood by others. We only spent a few days together when we were kids; we didn't grow up together.” Rory almost got beaten up by the Foster family members because of what happened next.

What did she do? Nothing! All she did was ask Isabelle a couple of questions! Did they really have to treat her and Carolina like enemies? This was too humiliating! She glared angrily at them before slamming the tea table hard enough to make it shake. "What is wrong with you people? Did me or Carolina do something wrong? If the Foster family doesn't want us here, then we'll leave right now!" Her eyes turned red as tears welled up in them. "This is still my maiden family! How can my own family treat me like this? | haven't been back in over a year or more yet you treat me so badly!" Carolina quickly sat beside Rory while tugging on her sleeve coquettishly, "Grandma, maybe they don't want me here... | should be the one leaving, since I'm not your biological granddaughter anyway; it's normal for others not to accept me." Isabelle was shocked by Carolina's acting skills.

Does she think everyone else is an idiot? Can't she speak with a little bit of sense? Old Mrs. Foster's face was also unpleasant. "Is this your so-called Aettosa socialite? Can't you speak with some intelligence? Who in this room looks down on her? We haven't said anything, have we?" Gisselle sneered, "I'm just advising you not to focus on Darius. After all, Darius and Isabelle are getting married and their child is already five years old. Do you want to be a home wrecker? I'm just telling you to live well and take care of your own reputation as a socialite. How did it become "looking down’ when it came out of your mouth?" "What did you say?" Carolina stared at Karina in shock.

"Their child is five years old?" It felt like Carolina had been struck by lightning.

She had loved Darius since she was young and dreamed of becoming his bride.

But every year during the two families’ gatherings, Darius always kept his distance from her.

She never had a chance to get close to him.

When she heard yesterday that he was getting married, she begged Rory to bring her back... but she never expected that he would already have a child.

"That's right! So Miss Carolina, don't force things." Gisselle pointed at Bethany who had been practicing drawing all along. "Our precious little one is smart and lovely.” Previously Rory and Carolina were focused on Isabelle without noticing the five-year-old toddler in the corner.

Their eyes widened like they saw ghosts as they stared at Bethany intently.

The little girl inexplicably raised her head and faced them directly with a grin showing off two rows of pearly white teeth, "Hello there! I'm Bethany." Ouch! It hurt! Carolina suddenly felt like everything around her was just one big joke - running after a man from far away only to find out that he had gotten married and had a child...

Her vision blurred momentarily but soon enough regained composure - so what if he has a child now? As long as they don't get registered, she still stands a chance.

Besides, since their child has grown up so much without them being wedded yet then surely they will marry each other soon enough anyway - wanting to give their kid an intact family unit...

Darius doesn't really love Isabelle anyway...

After imagining all sorts of scenarios inside her head, Carolina put on what she thought was an elegant smile. "You're such an adorable girl." As long as this bastard disappears, Isabelle will never be able to marry into the Foster Family! At this moment, a terrible thought occurred to Carolina.

Thank goodness she came. If she hadn't come, she would have never known that Darius had a child! Not only her, but Rory's mind was also in turmoil. Her family was wealthy and powerful. After marrying into the Obrien family, if it weren't for the help of the Foster family, she wouldn't have been able to establish herself in the Obrien family.

If Carolina could marry into the Foster family, then the relationship between these two families would definitely reach new heights. Moreover, her eldest son was currently vying for the position of head of household. With support from the Foster family, things would certainly go more smoothly.
